I love my morning coffees, but I can’t stand the headaches I’ll get if I don’t have any. To curb my coffee addiction, I’ve turned to matcha lattes! They’re delicious, simple to make, and I don’t get any headaches if I don’t drink one every day. This is the matcha latte recipe I now use every day!

The History Of Matcha

Matcha has a long history in Japanese culture. It is more than a simple drink, and you’ll find that it plays an important role in the Japanese tea ceremonies. The ritual is performed with a focus on peace and mindfulness. The matcha tea powder used in these ceremonies is very fine and pure.
Ceremonial vs Culinary-Grade Matcha
Ceremonial-grade matcha can be very expensive, and will carry with it a stronger flavor. But for cooking purposes, especially if you’re adding other ingredients such as oat milk, culinary-grade matcha will do the trick. You can use either ceremonial-grade or culinary-grade matcha for this matcha latte recipe.
I tend to stick to culinary-grade matcha because it’s more affordable. The flavor is great and you still get the health benefits! Matcha is high in antioxidants, and has been associated with lower blood pressure and bad LDL cholesterol. Of course, it’s important to remember these studies have only found associations, not causations.
